Dr. Mirzanejad is a Senior Consultant in infectious diseases at Surrey Memorial Hospital- Fraser Health Authority and a Clinical Associate Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases at University of British Columbia. He is also Vancouver site Co director, Centre for Disease Control - Geo Sentinel Surveillance Study and Site Lead, UBC undergraduate education for Ambulatory training in Surrey, University of British Columbia, Chairman, Tropical Medicine Expert Group, British Columbia, Canada and a Gorgas Graduate in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, University of Cayetanu Peru-University of Alabama. Dr. Mirzanejad is also a Lecturer in Tropical Medicine -Division of infectious diseases, University of British Columbia.

In the capacity of medical lead in development of infra-structures in infectious diseases & Health Care Epidemiology program, he has made significant contribution towards excellence in teaching and research at UBC.

Dr. Mirzanejad’s clinical expertise includes Tropical medicine, HIV, TB, Nosocomial infections, and Parasitology Microbiology. Streptococcal Pneumonia, Streptococcal Anginosus, Tuberculosis, and Hospital epidemiology are among his key areas of research interest. He is currently leading a multi-center, randomized, double-blind study to compare the efficacy and safety of cadazolid versus vancomycin in subjects with clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAC) at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He is also conducting a Phase III Clinical Trail with Sanofi Pasteur developing a vaccine designed to produce an immune response to neutralize the effects of Clostridium difficile toxins at Fraser Health. 

He received his MD from the Iran University of Medical Sciences, Taleghani Medical Center, Tehran, Iran. He completed his Internship at St. Paul’s Hospital from UBC and Residency in Internal Medicine from University of Manitoba. He went on to do a fellowship in Infectious diseases and Microbiology Vanderbilt University Medical Centre and Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from Gorgas Institute.

The accomplishments and achievements attained by Dr. Yazdan Mirzanejad in the field of Infectious Disease Healthcare Services have resulted in his inclusion into The Heritage Registry of Who’s Who.
